OP Scholar Meryland and OP LAPD Mentor Officer Bustamante on ESPN!

Over the last few months, a film crew from ESPN has been following around OP Scholar Meryland and LAPD mentor Officer Bustamante. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, they crafted a story about their respective boxing careers and their bond over the intense sport.

Gonzalez started boxing when she was six years old. Now at 12-years-old, she is ranked #2 in the nation for her age group.

This opportunity has been very humbling. It truly is an honor to tell an Operation Progress story that very uniquely highlights a special component of our organization. The LAPD mentorship program empowers and encourages our Scholars to reach their maximum potential by providing an extra hand in their support system.

If you are interested in mentoring as either a LAPD officer or Young Professional Mentor, please contact our Program Director K. Cato at (323) 749-0699.
